Smart elderly home

Insight

A collaboration between university, house society and the technology research institute, to visualise an ideal smart home for elderly in Hong Kong.

Strategy

The smart elderly home forms an automotive and non-intrusive bubble, designed to allow an older person to live on their own, albeit with a strong safety net of care and communication.

Innovation

The monitoring system in this project utilises sensor technology in different areas of the room. The sensors track the body’s movement between rooms, and can sound an alarm fi there is no activity for a long period of time. Wristbands monitor vital signs. Activity levels and health data are collated and sent for analysis to a carer’s smartphone, allowing for more pre-emptive care.
